CD features jazz legend Sheila Jordan whom the Music Hound Jazz Guide called "one of the most daring and distinctive vocalists in jazz" in the world; premier performance of Mark Harvey's Christmas Cantata, (written for and inspired by Kip Tiernan, Boston social activist and founder of Rosie's Place); other offerings include a soulful Gospel/blues rendition of Silent Night, a polyrhythmic Bring a Torch, Jeannette, Isabella; and the Afro-Jazz smoker, Benedictus, from Harvey's jazz mass. Recent: Aardvark Jazztet in NH
The Aardvark Jazztet, featuring members of the legendary Aardvark Jazz Orchestra performed two concerts this summer in NH. The Jazztet features: 

  • Mark Harvey, trumpet and music director 
  • Arni Cheatham, saxophones
  • Peter H. Bloom, flutes and saxophones
  • John Funkhouser, piano;
  • Jesse Williams, string bass; 
  • Harry Wellott, drums
 
Attendees enjoyed music by Duke Ellington, George Gershwin, Cole Porter and other jazz greats. They also enjoyed Mark Harvey’s Claremont Suite (written for the city’s 250th anniversary in 2014) and also the premiere of Mark Harvey’s SGS (Saint Gaudens Studio), commissioned for the occasion.
